Meritxell Campos Olivé was born in Bigues i Riells, a village close to Barcelona. She lives in Berlin since 1999, working internationally as a dancer, dance teacher, choreographer and director.

She taught at Tanzfabrik Berlin from 2004 to 2011, opened the space for art and creation “Urbanraum” in 2011 and teaches Contemporary dance, Improvisation, Dance Theatre and Choreography at Seneca Intensiv Berlin (formation program for professional dancers) since 2014.

Next to works like the dance theatre SPECULUM, the reading/performance ANIMAL ERECTUS (with German writer Harald Martenstein), VERTIGO (a piece for dancer and harpsichord) the dance theatre project HUMAN LOOPS is her most well-known work. HUMAN LOOPS has been shown in Germany (Rotes Rathaus/City Hall Berlin, Deutsches Hygienemuseum Dresden), Spain (Sant Feliu de Guíxols) and Italy (Roma Action Poetry Festival). Until today more than 800 participants of all ages and educational backgrounds have taken part in HUMAN LOOPS.

In 2015 Meritxell Campos Olivé started focussing on video and film projects, using the camera as an experimental tool. One project: “7 One Shots”, a series of short, improvised one-take videos interpreting music of Dieter Meier. She also began working on her first feature film as a director which was finished in 2017. “Santa Inocencia” was shot in Alvito, nearby Rome. The art film, produced by Dieter Meier and Peter Rommel, investigates in the spirit of the absurd the neurosis and fears of the everyday life, it’s constant projections into the past or the future and the inability to experience the present. “Santa Inocencia” will be shown in several film festivals in 2018.
